Today in Leinster House: March 20, 2012

The Dáil and Seanad themselves may have taken a long weekend, but the two committees which usually meet on Tuesdays are ploughing ahead with their usual workload.

2:15pm – Environment, Transport, Culture and the Gaeltacht – In Room 4, putting on their culture hats, members resume their examinations of how the arts can help to combat disadvantage and social exclusion, this time hearing from members of the Graffiti Theatre Company, the GAA, Cork City Council and Cork Academy of Music.

2:30pm – Communications, Natural Resources and Agriculture – Over in Room 1, the Norwegian ambassador Roald Næss is joined by Mette Agerup, the assistant director at Norway’s Ministry of Oil and Gas. They will offer a timely briefing on oil and gas exploration in their country – only a week after Providence Resources announced Ireland’s first commercially viable oil well.
