Today in Leinster House: October 7, 2011

There’s only one item on the agenda today, but it’s a little bit of parliamentary history…

10:30am – Private Members’ Time – For the first time in Dáil history, time is set aside specifically to allow members of the opposition and government backbenchers to propose legislation of their own. The honour falls to Sinn Féin’s Peadar Toibín, who has tabled the Industrial Relations (Amendment) (No. 2) Bill 2011 – an bill “to make further and better provision for promoting harmonious relations between workers and employers”. There’ll be three hours of debate, before the Dáil adjourns at 1:30pm for the weekend.

The day’s business can be viewed on our Dáil streams for web and Facebook.
