Dáil sittings for Tuesday June 14 postponed

As a mark of respect to the late Brian Lenihan, whose funeral takes place tomorrow, the business of Dáil Éireann has been postponed for Tuesday 14 June.

The Seanad will continue to meet as scheduled on Tuesday.

The rest of the Dáil’s business for Wednesday and Thursday has been amended slightly as a result:

  • Questions to the Minister for Social Protection move to the Wednesday slot; the questions set for Wednesday, for the Minister for the Environment, are put back to Thursday at 4:30pm, and the questions set for the Minister for Communications (originally set for Thursday) will be put back to next week.
  • The afternoon time set aside for the Welfare of Greyhounds Bill 2011 on Thursday has been scrapped; instead, Sinn Fein’s private members’ time from Tuesday is moved to the afternoon slot.
  • Thursday’s sittings will now extend beyond 4:45pm, with ministerial questions beginning at 4:30pm and adjournment matters discussed at 5:45pm.
  • Expressions of sympathy will be made during Leaders’ Questions on Wednesday morning.

All other business remains as originally outlined.
