Today in Leinster House: October 27, 2011

While the Dáil takes the day off – you know, there are other things happening today – the Seanad is still in session.

10:30am – Order of Business – As election days are usually quite slow in terms of other news – with the majority of news reporting focussing on the turnouts around the country – the 75-minute free-for-all in the Seanad could see members of the upper house making a more concerted effort to get themselves in the news.

11:45am – Statements and Q&A on Health – Being one of the members of cabinet who is based in Dublin, the powers that be deemed that Dr James Reilly would be able to make it back into Leinster House after his vote. He’ll spend two hours of his day hearing statements, and taking questions, on his ministerial brief of Health.

1:45pm – Matters on the Adjournment – At the end of a short, but nonetheless full-length, day; members get the chance to discuss three items of importance before calling it a week.

As always, all of the day’s business can be viewed on the Seanad streams: Web streamFacebook stream.
