Today in Leinster House: January 20, 2012
It might be a Friday, but the parliamentary calendar – and yesterday’s visit of Paddy Ashdown – means a vital meeting for Eamon Gilmore…
11:30am – European Union Affairs – On the face of it, a briefing about the contents of the latest EU draft treaty would be an interesting enough affair. But this will be the first time that the new ‘fiscal compact’ deal has been raised at any level in the Oireachtas – meaning it’s the first chance for many to have a go about its contents – and there’s also another interesting question: which version will Gilmore present? Will it be either of the two formal ones published by the European Council, or the fundamentally more different one leaked last week – which has a much different impact on a potential referendum? This meeting in Room 3 should answer those questions, and no doubt raise very more.
The day’s business can be viewed on our Committee Room 3 stream for web and Facebook.
